Merry Christmas MACBF

Clergy and Friends,

As we begin to wrap up the advent season, I hope each of you will have a moment to rest in the gift that is the Christ child.  God’s answer to the hectic, messy and anxious world is to show up as a peaceful, innocent and vulnerable child.  It is as if God is saying there is another way.  An easier way, a lighter way, a way that leads to true shalom.  I hope you will have time to pause and see!

As the new year approaches, I know we sit with lots of questions. Questions about the church, uncertainty about our country, deep concerns for people we love.  But I wonder if the questions can wait a moment? Can we stop long enough to allow the awe of the Bethlehem moment to hush the questions nagging at our hearts. After we stop and spend time with the Christ child, we can pick up the questions again. Maybe we can make sense of our questions by going another way.  A less anxious way. A way that is shaped through the one who comes as a child. We have proclaimed the words of hope, peace, joy and love. Now let us behold the one who makes them all true.

Merry Christmas!
