Christian Worship is a matter of justice. Faith in God and the work of justice are indissoluble. Yet, pervasive injustice in our world raises legitimate questions about the need for churches to continue Jesus’ radical justice mission and the effectiveness of our approach to justice ministry. Must churches empower and equip their members to engage in biblical justice advocacy and activism? What instructions do the scriptures offer for remediating congregational tensions about justice, obligations, and rights? What ethical considerations guide the church’s confrontation of legal and political systems that promote injustice?
